Summary

Here's a simple way to change the colours in an image to have pastel hues rather than the normal colours, just using a couple of Curves adjustments. You have full control over the effect, of course.

Note: If you analyse pastel colours you will often find that at least one RGB colour is at maximum value, which tends to push colours towards primary or secondary hues. Cyan, Magenta and Yellow have two channels (of Red, Green or Blue) very high, which makes them brighter than colours where the values are lower. Both of these contribute to a colour appearing to be 'pastel' (which tends to be lighter than other colours).
