SummarySometimes colour adjustments in an image affect monochrome (and near-monochrome) areas that you would like to keep more black-grey-white. Here's a way to do this, with either a straight black-white layer you can convert to a mask (Layer/Rasterise to Mask), or a cut-out of the near/monochrome areas you can use as an overlay to edit separately. And as an extra bonus, not only does this work with pure monochrome, a method of selecting near-monochrome is shown, where you can set the 'closeness-percentage', such as 10% or 15%.
