Summary

Here's a neat trick that few know about -- how to change the gradient termination in a shape. It is really useful in such applications as sunrays.

The basic principle is:

Draw shape. Add blur if needed.
Draw gradient down shape.
Stretch, rotate or shear shape, even just a little bit.
Re-access the gradient - you will now see a paralellogram rather than the single gradient line.
Use the parallelogram to reshape the end of the gradient, for example making the end of a sunray parallel with the ground.
Dismiss the parallelogram by reshaping it to a rectangle (look for the little square 'right angle' symbol against the gradient line.
