Summary

When you use a wide angle lens, distant objects seem even further away and things at the edge of the lens may distort. On the other hand, when you use a telephoto lens, distant objects seem closer and more alike to near objects.

Here's a simple way using the Warp Mesh tool to simulate the effects of telephoto and wide angle lenses, including a neat trick with source and destination settings on the mesh toolbar.
