Summary

It is useful to divide the image up into luminosity (degrees of lightness) zones, with the the most basic as three zones: darks, mid-tones and lights. In this series we will be looking at how the histogram helps us understand this and various tools can be used to address issues. Here, we start with Curves, a standard bell-shaped histogram, and how we can deliberately change contrast in different zones.
