Sharpen First, Then (Surprise!) Noise Reduction Second
Disciplines > Photography > Affinity Photo > The InAffinity Video Index > Sharpen First, Then (Surprise!) Noise Reduction Second Summary | Video | Detail | See also
SummaryThere's a conventional wisdom that says you should denoise a picture before sharpening it. This is because sharpening a noisy picture amplifies the sharpening, which forces the denoise after sharpening to work harder and degrade the image further. However, you can do a denoise-sharpen sequence more easily, effectively and efficiently by doing the denoising second. It seems counter-intuitive but it really works.
