Stratagem groupDescriptionThese stratagems are largely psychological in nature, aiming to intimidate, deceive or stimulate greed. In doing so, they weaken the enemy and make a successful physical attack more likely to succeed. NumberThis is the third stratagem group of six. Alternative namesStratagems for Direct Attack DiscussionAttacking is, in some ways, the last resort of the general. Better is to be able to convince the other side to give in. When it is time for attack, then the goal is to win with the minimum loss of troops and other resources. In a way, the 'attack' in these stratagems are not so much by military forces but are more about mental attack as they aim to confuse and demoralize the other side before real battle commences.
