Flirting is all about sending signals to other people that say 'I like you'. They can range from friendly smiles to strong 'come hither' signs.

General signals

General signals to look for (and use) include:

Preening

When you are attracted to someone, you may suddenly be concerned with how you appear to them. You may thus unconsciously start to tidy yourself up, whether it is flattening your hair or

Gazing

There are rules about how long you can look at another person (although be aware that this varies greatly with culture). Generally speaking, Looking at them a little longer than expected, then looking away sends a signal that you are so interested in them you have forgotten the rule. Looking away, especially when they look at you also shows you do care about them and are apologetic about your staring. Sneaking another look at them again shows that you are so interested in them that you cannot help yourself but look at them.

Self-consciousness

Flushing, giggly, clumsy

Pointing a toe, knee or even the whole body
