You can also drag and drop the .macros file onto the image area.

Discussion

This is a set of 42 macros that simply create a single Selective Colour adjustment layer. The purpose is to speed and simplify colouring of whites, blacks and neutral greys/mid-tones.

The Selective Colour Whites, Neutrals and Blacks first make a selection of whites, mid-tones and blacks (you cannot change this selection) and then lets you change Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black (CMYK). In reality, the Cyan, Magenta and Yellow controls only change the Red, Green and Blue pixels. You can hence view the CMY controls and RGB, but in reverse (sliding Cyan left increase red, while sliding it right decreases red, which may expose cyan).

Macros

The macros are named simply by what they do, for example 'Make Whites Orange'. When they do so, colour controls appear in a panel, with the following controls:

  • Adjust Reds: changes reds applied to selected areas (this is the 'Cyan' control in Selective Colour.

  • Adjust Greens: changes reds applied to selected areas (this is the 'Magenta' control in Selective Colour.

  • Adjust Blues: changes reds applied to selected areas (this is the 'Yellow' control in Selective Colour.

  • Lighten -- Darken: slide left to lighten the image and right to darken it (this is the 'Black' control in Selective Colour).

The macros are named:

  • Make White XX

  • Make Black XX

  • Make Greys XX

Where XX is one of the twelve primary/secondary/tertiary colours (Red, Orange, Yellow, Lime green, Green, Spring green, Cyan, Teal, Blue, Violet, Magenta and Rose). XX may also be White, Black or Grey, which directs action to Selective Colour Whites, Blacks and Neutrals.

You can quickly click on successive macros to see the basic effect. Then you can make adjustments in the panel that pops up, then click 'Apply' to create the Selective Colour layer, which you can of course adjust later. It may also be useful to adjust with Opacity or Blend Modes.
