DiscussionUnderstanding the road ahead is always important, as is understanding the land all around. Attacks when forging ahead can come from any direction. Having backup troops out of sight is a good move that can turn around a battle. With fresh troops able to arrive later, this gives a double backup that can add further surprise and let the opposing army think 'How many more troops do they have??' See also
