DescriptionPersuade others to do as you say by pointing out that you can see what they do, write, etc. Note that you will be watching them when they act. Indicate that you have access to email records as needed. Point out the security cameras. I need you to come in early tomorrow and I'll be looking at the check-in times for everyone. We can't spend money like this. I'm going to have to keep a closer eye on our bank account. DiscussionChecking up on people is often something that is reviled as an intrusive threat, yet it can be necessary when the subjects in question have proven that they are untrustworthy or where it required by some statute that verification is necessary. When surveillance is used, then it is important to be able to show that it is done fairly and within given rules. This implies that the surveillance should itself be watched by someone or some system that everyone involved trusts. When people see fair process, they will be far readier to accept it, even if they still do not like it. Surveillance is the 55th of the 64 compliance-gaining strategies described by Kellerman and Cole. See also
