MethodMake little disapproving noises as they are talking. Frown. Look as if you are not at all convinced and maybe a bit suspicious of their motives. When they ask you to comment, do so hesitatingly and with no sign of agreement. ExampleHmm. I see. Mmm. Ok. Keep going. DiscussionSmall noises will distract the persuader, causing them to become confused and unsure of themselves and their arguments. When they are looking for you to show signs of agreement, signals of disapproval and disagreement will put them off their spiel (giving you opportunity to take charge). See also
