Wednesday 04-October-06 Pimps and prostitutesProstitution is a highly emotive subject about which I know very little, but it seems that it's an easily sordid topic in which crime and misery are traded for moments of primitive stimulation. A recent newspaper article described how young teenage girls are lured into the 'profession'. The first step seems quite innocuous as a cool, slightly older boy befriends a younger girl. At first she gets to make her friends jealous as the nice guy pays her friendly and seeming innocent attention, so maybe even her parents don't mind them hanging out together. The next step is where he introduces her to another guy who showers her with gifts and takes her out in his flash car. Incrementally, she is thus seduced away from her normal social circle. Isolated now, he asks first for small things of her, and then it's payback time, non-stop, from thereon in. She is thus seduced and enslaved into prostitution with a classic incremental persuasion pattern. It's not the prostitution per se that seems bad as much as the seduction and then coercion as innocence is systematically stripped away. There are few things that I consider evil, but deliberate corruption is one. To knowingly and repeatedly do so is an even deeper shade of black. |
