Ethnographic Research
Explanations > Social Research > Ethnographic research
In much psychological research, the methods are based on those from the natural sciences (chemistry, physics, etc.), where a deterministic world is discovered through controlled experiments. The human world is complex and social research adds significant use of statistics to help cope, yet there are many unique situations where most observation would seriously change how people might behave. These situations can be studied to understand them, not to generalize and prove universal principles.
