DescriptionParaeneticon is the expression of emotion through exhortation, telling or asking others to act in some way. ExampleGet out of here! Get out of my sight!! Can you feel the vibes? I think you can be creative now. Get those juices flowing... Stop! Don't say it!! I can't stand to hear it! DiscussionParaeneticon is a way of issuing a command. It often voiced in the form of an uncontrollable outburst, particularly of anger. Being an outburst, it is more socially acceptable in that the person is clearly not fully in control of themself. This is also a clear signal of the strength of the emotion the person is feeling and consequently the implied importance of the situation. Paraeneticon need not be an outburst and can be more controlled, although its essence is still that emotion of some form is being expressed. Classification: Emotion See also |
