Action requests are questions that seek to influence the other person to do something.

Direct request

Direct requests are relatively simple requests for action, and are one step away from commands. These may be softened by such as pleading and reasonining.

Plead: Addition of pleading that triggers social obligation. Can you please take this outside?

Justification: Giving reason for asking them. This needs to go outside and you're stronger. Can you do it?

Hidden command

A hidden command is found in sentences where a simple command is cloaked by a question format. This format typically uses suggestions of possibility that may also subtly challenge the person's competence, such that they feel obliged to demonstrate that they are able to do the task by actually doing it.

Direct: Simple possibility. Do you think you can take this outside?

Indirect: Connecting with other factors: As you are going out, can you take this?

Help me

The 'help me' request plays on social values that requires others to requests for assistance.

Show me: A simple request for a demonstration. 'Can you show me how to clean these?'

Teach me: a request for more comprehensive. 'Please help me to learn how to do this by myself.'
