DescriptionAct like you are the manager. Expedite things for them. Say you can get special dishes done by the chef. Direct other staff. If the customer has a problem, apologize and seem annoyed on their behalf, promising to fix things immediately (which of course, you do). DiscussionBeing the boss can backfire in getting tips, as customers may assume you already make enough money, so be careful with this. Where it can work is in making them feel like they are so special that they are getting attention from a person in charge. When a senior person acts as a servant to a junior person (or at least a person who feels ordinary), then the person is elevated as being more important than the senior person. This boost in identity makes the customer feel good and (hopefully) give you a good tip. See also |
